X-Files-I Want To Believe/Fight For the Future 2pk (Blu-ray)
|
| | | "Blu-Ray Disc, Beyond High Definition." Features: DVD To find the truth, you must believe. To experience all The X-Files movies have to offer, you must pick up this exclusive Blu-ray 2-pack, featuring I WANT TO BELIEVE: ULTIMATE X-PHILE EDITION and FIGHT THE FUTURE. Do you want to believe?I WANT TO BELIEVE: When a group of women are mysteriously abducted, it becomes a case right out of the X-Files. The best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dr. Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere...and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it! FIGHT THE FUTURE: When a terrorist bomb destroys a building in Dallas, Texas, FBI Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are drawn into a dangerous conspiracy surpassing anything they've ever encountered. With the dubious assistance of a paranoid doctor (Academy Award-winner Martin Landau), Mulder and Scully risk their careers and their lives to hunt down a deadly virus which may be extraterrestrial in origin -- and could destroy all life on earth. Their pursuit of truth pits them against the mysterious Syndicate, powerful men who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets safe, leading the agents from a cave in Texas, to the halls of the FBI, and finally to a secret installation in Antarctica which holds the greatest secret of all. "[Fight the Future] Smart, sexy and sensational...X marks the spot." ABC-TV "[Fight the Future] Neither true believers nor newcomers to the phenomenon will be disappointed." Bob Graham, San Francisco Chronicle "[I Want to Believe] I Want to Believe provides a welcome reminder of what made Carter's franchise a pop-culture gem." Connie Ogle, Miami Herald "[Fight the Future] A most unusual summer blockbuster: one that delivers the thrilling goods with an uncommon dose of intelligence and complexity." Michael Dequina, Mr. Brown's Movies "[I Want to Believe] Knowing nothing about "X-Files" is no impediment to appreciating this for the well-acted, adult piece of work that it is." Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle "[I Want to Believe] Duchovny gives a nicely shaped performance...But the movie really belongs to Anderson." Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com
Editor's Note
Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson), the stars of TV's THE X-FILES, make it to the big screen in these two long-awaited cinematic extensions of the hit television series. Released at the height of X-FILES mania between seasons five and six, FIGHT THE FUTURE (1998) sports a storyline that integrates nicely into the arc of the series, dealing in particular with Mulder's quest for extraterrestrial truth, the then-compromised status of the FBI's X-Files division, and the tender but unopened relationship of Mulder and Scully. The film certainly takes advantage of its big budget. Having been released (and taking place) six years after the series ended, 2008's I WANT TO BELIEVE scales back to deliver a classic tale, one that involves a priest who claims to have psychic visions and might remind X-philes of the franchise's small-screen tone.
